clean larger areas, see through the dirt, and wipe only when a real portion of scrubbing is done - this saves a lot of time. No need to rince and wringe out the sponge every couple seconds either.

always kept seperate from other cleaning rags. This avoids abrassives from getting into the fibers, leading to scratching wood and fine surfaces
